You Just Have to Feel It!

plaster_2.jpg plaster_3.jpg

Andrew has finished his magic - for now - and the result is this spectacular piece of work on our pillars! We are soooo happy with the beautiful venetian plaster applied by the master. But perhaps the BEST part is what you can't see here - the wonderful sensual texture of the polished plaster. It feels like cold marble. Oh my gawd - it's SO YUMMY!

Thank you Andrew! Now - can I talk to you about our bathroom? :-)

A Question from Chris Christiansen

Hello all,

A while back I was told that the (roughly) t-shaped holes in our cement ceilings are made to hold hangers for very heavy objects. Can anyone verify this? My desire is to hold a chandelier of about 120 lbs.

Warm regards to all,
Chris, 203

Welcome, New Neighbor

loft_305_sold-thumb.jpgTonight I met Raul Pena - the new owner of loft 305. I learned that he's in telecom sales of some sort or another. He seemed excited when we talked about the many great things about living at the Fourth Street Lofts, but what got my attention was when he mentioned that he recently purchased a 50" plasma HDTV! Wow!

Welcome, Raul!

OutFoxed!

Just thought I'd pass this along - we're showing OutFoxed on the big screen at our place Sunday night.

Hope to see you there!

Welcome New Loft Owners!

I'd like to be the first to congratulate Tres Fontaine and Jack Allen for becoming the newest loft owners in the building. They completed the purchase of loft 105 yesterday. Welcome Jack, Tres and Olive! It's great to have the three of you as neighbors!

The Sign is Up!

north_wall2.jpgThe 3D model of the building is coming along. Today I added the windows, air vents and the sign to the front of the building. I'll add the neon behind the sign as soon as I figure out the best way to do it. One thing is for sure - all of the letters will be illuminated all of the time in the virtual loft! :-)

Rendering Realism

north_wall.jpgI'm continuing my work on the 3D loft project. This week I learned a lot about acheiving high-quality output. I now have the sun placed into the scene, more accurate color, better textures, etc.

Here's a virtual view of the northeast corner of the building at 11:30 AM on June 4th, 2004. Click on the image to get a closer look! Looks pretty realistic, eh? (Maybe I should put in some cracks.) :-)

247 4th Street in 3D Studio MAX!

west_wall_ground_level_sky.jpgIn my spare time, I've been developing a 3D model of our building. I used to do a lot of 3D work in my last job - years ago - so I'm a bit rusty. It's taking me quite a while to remember how best to create a model like this, but it is a lot of fun, and the results so far are pretty darn cool, if I must say so. :-)
