Jack London District Association
Good Morning,
This is to let you know that a new organization has formed to represent the Jack London District, an Oakland area extending from the Embarcadero to the 880 freeway, and from the Lake Merrit Channel to Adeline Street, and encompassing both Jack London Square and the historic Waterfront Warehouse District..
The Jack London District Association (pending 501(c) (3) ) is organized to represent all residents, property owners, business owners, and other stakeholders in the effort to promote positive relationships within the district and with municipal governments, public and private agencies, community-based and advocacy groups, and other interested persons regarding activities occurring in or relating to the district.
The Association has elected seven directors and has commenced business. It welcomes input and participation from all Jack London District stakeholders.

Fourth Street Lofts Task List
OK, this is a first cut on this sort of thing. We're all learning, so this may not be the most ideal way to post this, but I encourage Home Owners to have a look at our version 0.5 Task List.
Currently, the document is a static HTML file. If I see a need, I might consider making this page a live web form so that the board could keep track of on-going tasks from a web browser.

Architectural Committee Change Request Form
I have created a "fillable" version of the Architectural Committee Change Request Form. The form is an Adobe PDF, and so should work on any machine with Acrobat Reader 6.0 or better installed. The form can be filled out on-screen and printed for submission to the Architectural Review Committee. It can not be submitted on-line. I doubt that there will be enough of these forms submitted each year to justify and on-line database - yet.

Enhanced Searchable Documentation
Using Adobe Acrobat "Paper Capture", I have converted previously "un-searchable" PDF documents to documents with full search capabilities. These documents retain the exact look of the original, but include an invisible text layer which allows them to be searched with Acrobat's powerful Search Tool. Awesome!
From now on, all PDF documents in the Document Library will incorporate this feature.

Just in case you did not receive a proxy or if you lost yours like I did, here's a PDF. Please take the time to look closely at the proxy. If I'm reading it correctly, it appears that ALL OWNERS of a particular loft must SIGN and DATE the proxy in order for it to be valid.

UPDATE: I OCR'd the PDF file and the results can be viewed here. The advantage to the text format is that it is searchable. The disadvantage is that the OCR process is not 100% accurate, and the resulting formatting can be ugly.

On a different note, I wanted to send out this PDF on the legal opinion given to FSL HOA BOD earlier this week. The board has NOT had a chance to discuss it, and will not do so until the next meeting.
The next meeting will be announced by the middle of next week. Now more than even is a good time to plan on attending the next FSL HOA BOD meeting, as we are discussing vitally important issues--issues that involve YOUR money.

How to use the Sentex
I just found this document. I'll bet most of you have never seen the official usage instructions for the Sentex system. New tenants should also know that it is not possible to "buzz in" a visitor after 10:00 PM for security reasons.
Note that I put this entry in two Categories - "Document Library" and "New to the 'Hood". Are you beginning to see the value in this simple system?
