News from Joanna Adler @ Jack London Mail
Always something new going on at Jack London Mail!
First off, BIG congratulations to Michelle Augenstein for getting her notary commission! We *ALWAYS* have a notary available during business hours at the store and now we're expanding our mobile notary business.
PET PHOTOGRAPHS! Make your appointment for Sunday, December 5th to get your pet(s) photo taken. Jack London resident and photographer, Tonya Perme, will be taking professional photos of your pets. There is a $25 sitting fee per pet and she can even get prints back back to you in time to send out for the holidays. Call (510) 893-4100 to make an appointment. Tonya is providing the backdrop, lighting, photography equipment, and vast experience cajoling and treating pets into submission. Her print prices are very reasonable (no obligation to purchase). She'll have proofs back by Dec 8th, and to get your order by Dec 20th, orders must be placed by Dec 12th.
Only FIVE Saturday's remain before Christmas! We've got some fabulous greeting cards (if I do say so myself) and we've got some unique gifts. Soy candles, Danish mobiles (3-D Santa is my favorite, and a great $10 gift!), a few hand made teddy bears, and a few other odds and ends. We also now have batteries to throw in with that cool electronic gift you're sending across the country!
My personal favorite gift idea this year is what I'm calling "Donatables". The first is a calendar ($15) put out by Hopalong Animal Rescue located right here in the Jack London District. All $15 goes to Hopalong. The others are magnetic note/list pads (with pencils) that come with a donation to one of the following organizations:
Habitat for Humanity
Second Harvest Food Bank
Wardrobe for Opportunity
Save the Wild Horses
Oakland Fund for the Arts
It's two gifts in one - a useful, practical gift and a donation to one of these fabulous organizations. The list pads are $15, of which $12 goes to the charitable organization.
Speaking of the holidays, we're staying open longer starting Friday, November 26th. Holiday hours are:
- Monday-Friday: 9am-7pm
- Saturdays: 10am-4pm
- Sundays: 12pm-4pm
Back to normal hours (closed Sunday, 12/26) on Monday, December 27th.
